For these investigative articles, I will include the CONFIRMED timeline, adding in the new information on the timeline (highlighted in yellow). I will ask all questions that come to mind. If anyone has any answers or insight to these questions please contact me at wethemissing@gmail.com or on the Facebook page or Twitter account dedicated to finding Kenley Matheson. It has been 32 years since Kenley has been missing so at this point we need to keep discussing what we know, ask questions and get answers. Keep his name out there! As of September 2023, there is no one in law enforcement actively working on his case.

7 pm Tom Gordon's first statement to the police regarding Kenley's disappearance. Police were in Kenley's residence room with Kayrene and their father, Allan Matheson at this time. Tom stated that he last saw Kenley Monday, September 21, 1992 at approximately 2:40 pm (12:45 pm is recorded initially and then scratched out) afternoon at Royal Bank Wades Parking lot. Also seen Kenley walk past the rink travelling west with purple t-shirt, jeans, and a small black nap sack. Gordon is positive of his date Monday September 21, 92 was speaking to Kenley for a short period of time
TO NOTE: at this time police have the last transaction made on Kenley's account occurring at 1:15 pm on Sunday, September 20, 1992. They will not learn of a transaction made on Kenley's account on September 21, 1992 until October 16, 1992 from the RBC in Smithers. BC.
Monday, September 28, 1992
From Wolfville Police Continuation Report: Checked with Royal Bank, no further changes on the account of Matheson
QUESTIONS:
Did they call the bank in response to Tom Gordon's statement the previous night that he saw Kenley in the Royal Bank parking lot Monday at 2:40 pm (possibly 12:45 pm)?
Friday, October 16, 1992
From Wolfville Police Continuation Report: Info received from Royal Bank Smithers BC stated MATHESON's account was transferred to Wolfville and the last transaction was on 21 September 1992. Passed on to his mother
(Kenley Matheson was working out west planting trees before he attended Acadia university so he would have had a bank account in British Columbia)
QUESTIONS:
When was his bank account transferred to Wolfville?
Why did the transaction made on September 21, 1992 not show up on September 25 or September 28, 1992 when RBC Wolfville was checking his account activity?
RBC Wolfville stated they would check his activity from time to time and advise Wolfville Police. Had they not checked his activity between September 28 and October 16? Or had they checked and it was not showing up for them? Why would it not?
Did RBC Smithers advise police of the last transaction or was that an additional note made by police on the continuation report that did not state the source of the last transaction?
If the last transaction was provided to police by RBC Smithers, did they not have the details of the transaction (deposit or withdrawal, amount, time, etc.) or were they just not recorded by police on this document?
Monday, October 19, 1992
From Wolfville Police Continuation Report: Kevin Cleary RCMP New Minas called. Matheson doesn't have any VISA cards at all but does have Royal Bank instant teller card {keep source private}. Sgt Cleary called back with instant teller card number # 4519 03 925 238 2068. Matheson last used the card on 21 September 1992 at Wolfville; deposit of $20.00, time unknown
QUESTIONS:
How did Sgt Cleary get the card number? Did he get it from the source? If yes, how would the source know the bank card number?
If not from the source, how would Sgt. Cleary get the card number?
Who provided the details of the transaction on September 21, 1992? Was it RBC Smithers or Sgt Cleary? If Sgt Cleary, who provided him those details?
If the date of the transaction, the $ amount of the transaction and the transaction type (deposit) provided, why would the time be unknown?
Was the transaction on September 21, 1992 ever confirmed by the RBC in Wolfville? Why would they not have had it in their records?
Could the source be hearing this secondhand from someone involved in Kenley's disappearance or who had heard it from people who were involved or had knowledge of Kenley's disappearance?
Monday, February 15, 1993
4:30 pm From Wolfville Police Investigative Timeline: Constable MacKillop spoke to Sgt Kevin Cleary of RCMP New Minas in reference to the instant teller card being used on 21 September 1992 (no specifics of discussion given).
TO NOTE: This occurred directly after contacting Kirsten Tomlinson on that same day at 3:11 pm for her first statement to police regarding Kenley's disappearance
QUESTIONS:
Did something in Kirsten's statement initiate this call?
TO NOTE/CONCLUSION:
Kenley Matheson had $4165.67 in his bank account at the time of his disappearance. His bank account remains untouched.
Although unconfirmed by the bank or other official sources, information obtained during a 2010 interview indicates $50 may have been withdrawn on 15 September 1992 and 18 September 1992.
At first, police treated Kenley as an adult who decided to leave University on his own, perhaps to travel. Another theory is that he may have committed suicide. Why would Kenley have taken $20 out on Sunday, September 20, 1992, only to deposit the same amount back in to his bank account on Monday, September 21, 1992? If Kenley was the one who made both of these transactions, does it make sense for him to do so if he intended to travel (and never touch that bank account again) or to then go and harm himself? Anything is possible but if Kenley is the one who made those transactions, it is most probable he did so with the intention of continuing on with his life at Acadia, meaning that he disappeared later that day, against his will.
If Kenley did not make both, and more specifically the last transaction, the most probable conclusion is that someone made that transaction on his account to make it seem that Kenley was alive and well and going about his life in Wolfville on the afternoon of Monday, September 21, 1992.
Tom Gordon places himself at the Royal Bank in Wolfville on the afternoon of Monday, September 21, 1992. He also states that he sees Kenley Matheson there.
As we know, memories fade, and although Tom originally stated he saw Kenley twice on Monday, September 21, 1992, he no longer recalls seeing him twice but has never wavered on the fact that he saw Kenley in the Royal Bank Parking Lot on Main Street in Wolfville. If he was not involved in Kenley's disappearance, this would be a sighting he would not want to stick with if untrue, as it makes him not only the last person know to see Kenley, but has him being the last person to see him on the date and location of the last transaction on his bank account. Is it possible Kenley decided to skip his morning classes, made the $20 deposit in his bank account that day, and met Tom in the bank parking lot when doing so? Is it possible he intended to meet Kayrene for their study session that night and went missing before he had the chance?
If Tom was not involved, is it possible those involved, or those who had knowledge of Kenley's fate, learned or knew of Tom's sighting and made the transaction themselves to cast suspicion on Tom? Is it possible the transaction did not occur or was falsely reported to have occurred?
If Tom was involved, or had any knowledge of Kenley's disappearance, and he made that transaction (or knew who did), he would have to stick to this one sighting. It would cast much suspicion if he denied seeing Kenley at all on Monday, after being so specific about when and where he saw him on that date.
