Alison the Astronaut was 15 years in the making and based on my eldest child, Alison



My eldest child, Alison, has always loved space. They decided they wanted to be an astronaut and/or study space from Earth at a very young age. Alison had space themed birthday parties and dressed as an astronaut and Buzz Lightyear for several Halloweens. We read countless space books. Alison has always been an avid reader. We used to go to the local library and check out 20 books at a time and sit on the couch and read them all together in a day! They had no books at home that they had not yet read. This is when I wrote Alison the Astronaut. 

 

I did not try hard to have it published the traditional route but dreamt of someday publishing it myself with children as the illustrators. I researched self-publishing over the years but for some reason I convinced myself it was too hard - until recently. I decided to go for it and I did it! The illustrations the children sent in are amazing and I am so proud of all of them. What a great job they did!

Alison the Astronaut is the story of a young girl who, at only five-years-old becomes the youngest person in space and the first person to land on Mars!
