Do you want to illustrate my books?

I am passionate about showing children that they CAN! If they want to, they can! And so I have children illustrate my books. I also believe literacy is a superpower and I want to foster the love of reading. I want to foster creativity as creativity opens the mind. It allows us to view and solve problems more openly and with innovation.

If your child is interested in illustrating one of my books, please check back here frequently and also please like my Orange Bonobo Creative Writing Facebook page as I will be posting the call for submissions on both places. Currently I am accepting illustrations for Girls Don't Like Dinosaurs!

My first children's picture book, illustrated by children, is Alison the Astronaut which is now available for purchase in print form and ebook form.

Submitting the illustrations is very easy! I will put the call out for submissions on my blog, Facebook page and place a link to the call for submissions post on this page as well. In the callout I will link to a google spreadsheet explaining what I would like in the illustration and your child will also claim their illustration on the same spreadsheet. Then they draw the photo with whatever medium they prefer - crayon, coloured pencils, markers, paint, digital software, etc and when their masterpiece is completed you can either take a picture with your phone and send it to me or scan it and send it to me at orangebonobocreativewriting@gmail.com.

TO NOTE: The children will not receive monetary compensation for their illustrations but of course will have their illustrations published in the book!
